Leixoes (Oporto), Portugal

One of Portugal’s most important seaports, it’s found near the mouth of the Douro River. Here are some of our favorite experiences for the cruise port of Leixões (Oporto), Portugal: The Ponte de D. Luís provides great views both above and below. This double-decked metal bridge connects Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia over the Douro River; bridge engineer Téophile Seyrig was the partner of Gustave Eiffel, who designed that famous tower in Paris. For a climb that rewards with amazing views of the city and ocean, visit the Torre dos Clérigos, which has come to symbolize Porto. Built in 1750s, the Roman baroque-influenced design includes 240 steps and six floors. Called “The Soul of Porto,” the Cais da Ribeira is a picturesque medieval part of the city.

Lisbon, Portugal

As the capital and epicenter of Portugal, Lisbon is steeped in culture, history, and natural beauty. Lisbon, Sintra & The Estoril Coast This is the perfect tour for those who wish to see the best that Lisbon has to offer, as well as Sintra and the Estoril Coast. Your tour begins in Lisbon, where you will see the city’s main sites, including St. George Castle (and its surrounding quarter) and Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest quarter. You’ll also pay a visit to the well-preserved 16th century Belem district, where you will find monuments related to the Portuguese Golden period, linked with the heroic deeds of the Portuguese maritime exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries. This was the Age of Discoveries and the Golden Era of Portugal, transforming Lisbon into the opulent center of a vast empire. Of course, it is said that any visitor to Lisbon must also visit the romantic town of Sintra, Portugal’s ex-libris, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Sintra is a mix of natural and manmade beauty: fantasy castles set amid exotic tropical plants, lush green valleys, and craggy hilltops with hazy views of Lisbon and the Atlantic. The coastal road of Estoril is one of the most beautiful and charming itineraries of all the Lisbon surroundings.
